You're kidding me right? ~thrift store adventures~

Just had a Twilight Zone moment and thought I would share while it was fresh on my mind.

~Background~

I collect hard back children's books, mostly the classics.
Rarely a paper back, but sometimes the need arises.

My dad's name was Freddie.
He "worked" for the "government" and was "assassinated" in 1993.
(True story.  I, sadly, kid you not).

His second daughter, my sister, is named Allyson.

I liked that name so much, I named my only daughter, Allyson.
Spelled, 2 L's and 1 Y.
Not very original of me, but I love the classic name.  The minute I found out I was pregnant,
I knew it was a girl and her name was Allyson.
There was nothing to discuss!
 Period.
My poor husband never got a chance to contribute name ideas.  *shrugs*

My dad only got to meet 1 grandchild before he "died".  That would be Allyson.
He has had 3 more born since then.  They will never know his humor.
He was the funniest (and smartest) man I ever knew.

I have 2 children's books with "Freddy" on the front cover.  This is my second.
I have a nice collection of Freddy books growing.  LOL
Big deal.  I was happy to find it but thought nothing of it.
It was a .25 thrift store purchase.

This totally looks like my dad too.  He would be the type to stand on a box and think he's all smart and important.  Well.  He kinda was.  But anyway,

Notice anything up top?

Yep.  Are you seeing what I'm seeing?
Someone else wrote that, not me.

Woah.  What are the odds?  Freddy is not a common name and
spelling Allyson this way is not the most common.

Is it me, or is this freaky weird?  Did my dad just say hi to me.  Is he playing a joke on me?  Just think it's so stinkin' funny...and kinda creepy.  Good creepy, not bad creepy.

So to the average Joe, this is just a stupid coincidence.

I don't believe in coincidences.
I think sometimes God smiles on us or comforts us with sweet little things.

I really miss him.

Be Blessed and Be a Blessing.

Pooh, the "I Know Nothing" cat, is extraordinarily SPOOKED
and wants to get to bottom of this.

~ The End ~

I guess next, I will have to read I, Freddy, Book 1 in the Golden Hamster Saga, , by Dietlof Reiche, and give you a book report.  :)

Springer Spaniel rescue and foster

Checking in and hoping to be posting again regularly.  I don't like taking breaks.
It throws me off.

The Bad News

I think I mentioned before, we are dealing with some pretty horrible health issues.  My husband has just been diagnosed with Graves Disease.  It's terrible.  You wouldn't wish it on your worst enemy.  He is stable now, but just barely.  He does well for a week or 2 and the thyroid goes crazy again and they have to adjust.  He is a very sick man.  It's breaking my heart watching him suffer.

The Good News

King Charles the Magnificient
(foster)

We are finally "IN" with the English Springer Spaniel Rescue
We have our first foster.
His name is Charlie and he is wonderfully beautiful and well behaved.

If you click on the available dog link above, you will have to scroll down to see Charlie's info.  His pictures don't do him justice.  He is so much prettier in person.
Also, we are in the Southeast, Florida.  :)
You can search your area for available dogs.

Charlie loves to hold hands with a lady.

He's been through a lot.  He was a badly burned stray from Alabama.  He has great bones and DNA I think, as he stands like a champion sometimes.  :)
He is a "velcro" Springer....  Looooves his people, whoever they might be.

He is a perfect guard dog.  Barks just enough when he hears something strange, but doesn't go Chihuahua crazy.  (sorry Chihuahua...no disrespect intended).

He bonded strongly with his other foster mom and now has bonded well with my husband.  He does love the ladies though.  I've bonded with him too but I'm a very sensitive person and am trying not to love him too much.
It will hurt when he leaves.

He has a good family temperment and would do well with children.
He gets a long well with Lee Lee and the cats too.

We already love him and he has brought lots of smiles and joy the past few days, but we are determined not to get in the habit of keeping every foster.  We want to help the breed and help the cause and if we keep them all, we will eventually run out of room and can't foster any more.

Charlie is eating up all the hugs he is getting.  Such a cheerful lover.

PLEASE Share this link with other Springer Spaniel lovers
and anyone who is looking to adopt a
VERY good dog for their family.

Be blessed and Be a Blessing

Pooh's opinion, "Get. That. Dog. Outta. My. House.
I ain't comin' in till he gone.
Nope.
Not. Comin. In."

Relax Pooh.  You're being a jerk.
You forget your mom was rescued.  Show mercy and compassion on every living thing, dork!

Weekending ~ Winter in Florida

Stopping in for news and notes:
I hate when I fall off the blogging wagon as I lose my bloggy mojo rhythm, so to speak.
Here is what has been going on in our life.

My computer is half broken, sometimes completely broken.  I'm mostly using my phone to check in on facebook lately.  :(  It's sad how much our lives revolve around our computers, eh?

My husband has Graves Disease, making his life miserable, therefore we are all miserable.

It's strawberry harvest season.  We are busy freezing and jamming.

We will be part of a Springer Spaniel rescue network soon.
We have lots to prepare around the home.

We are putting in the spring garden, hoping it's not too late.  We should have planted lots already.

I do my best to inspire others...here is my winter fashion guide for Florida  :)
Florida still gets cold in the winter.  I wear shorts and duck boots.  hahaha
(OK, not outside the house in public, mind you, but my feet are FREEZING!!!)

Well, that's a wrap. Hope I can get back in here regularly again next week.

~Be blessed and be a blessing~
